LPG Tanks, what types and differences are there?
The function of an LPG tank is to store the LPG safely and in liquid form. LPG systems use the gas from the tank in liquid form and for this reason an LPG tank has a riser that takes the liquid gas from the bottom of the tank. (Not to be confused with LPG vapor tanks for campers, for example, because they supply the gas in vapor form and take the gas from the top point in the tank). Nowadays there are all kinds, shapes and sizes of LPG tanks. In the Netherlands, the 4-hole variant has traditionally been used with 4 separate valves (80% filling valve, level measurement, pressure relief valve, withdrawal valve). While in Italy the MultiValve or also 1-hole tank was used. This has brought together the four parts mentioned in one unit (the MultiValve), which can be mounted through one hole in the LPG tank.

Nowadays we use both types in the Netherlands. In addition, there are differences in shape. For example, LPG tanks are available in cylinder form or as a ring tank (for the location of the spare wheel), with different diameters and lengths or heights, depending on what fits well in the vehicle. An LPG tank must be installed safely and in accordance with RDW regulations. read more about this in the articles...
