LPG Pipe, Filling Hose, Gas Hose and Couplings
LPG line: An LPG line is connected to this electric tap to transport the LPG to the engine compartment. In the past, copper pipes were used for this, but nowadays plastic LPG pipes are used for this, which have many advantages compared to copper pipes.
TIP! Copper or Plastic Pipe?:
For short lengths of pipe it is more convenient to use copper pipe, because then it is easy to install and no additional couplings (end pieces) are needed as with a plastic pipe. But if longer pieces of pipe have to be placed in all kinds of bends (under the vehicle), then using plastic pipe is much easier, because it bends and springs easily and returns again in the event of errors.
LPG Pipe is roughly available in 2 sizes; A: Ø6 mm and Ø8 mm. This refers to the outside diameter of copper pipe. Connections to LPG parts to which LPG pipes must be connected usually have a 6mm-8mm connection.
For example, Ø8 mm copper pipe has an outer diameter of Ø8 mm and is therefore called that, because the outer diameter indicates in which diameter compression fitting it can be inserted. The wall thickness is approximately 1 mm, making the inner diameter approximately Ø6 mm. We call Ø8 mm plastic pipe 8 mm, because it has a comparable inner diameter as 8 mm copper; approximately 6.5mm. While the wall thickness is much thicker than copper, making the outer diameter Ø10 - 12 mm. 8mm plastic pipe is therefore not Ø8 mm itself, but is comparable to 8mm copper. In order to be able to connect plastic pipes to, for example, 8mm compression fittings, an end piece (coupling piece) on the plastic pipe is required with a metal pipe with an outer diameter of Ø8 mm. Plastic pipe can therefore only be connected to other parts using: these associated end pieces (connectors). That is why you can choose in our webshop for plastic pipes which end pieces you want supplied with the pipe. (8mm, straight, angled, or with flare connection).
